Ideas for Missionary Service Assignments
Seminaries and Institutes
There are many part-time missionaries serving in the Church Educational System. Their responsibilities include assisting students to and from the school, reading with the students in class and helping the teachers with the lessons. Information on some of these opportunities is available on the Utah list of service opportunities, listed as a Teacher Assistant or Teacher Aide. Also considering discussing the possibility with your local Church Educational System representative.
Stake (District) and Ward (Branch) Opportunities
These type of opportunities are set up by local leaders and may include any number of assignments.
Other Opportunities
Here are some other part-time mission opportunities that I have heard of but have little information about any of them:
- Garden Aide on Church Office and Temple Square gardens, there is currently a listing for this assignment in the Utah list of service opportunities. Also listed is a need for supervisors for this assignment.
- Part-time Church Service Opportunities at the Missionary Training Center, I have heard of an assignment of someone assisting with parking. I am unsure if it was as a volunteer or a part-time missionary assignment- there may be other opportunities here as well.
- Temple Missions (I called one temple and was told to inquire about this opportunity through local stake leaders). I believe that it may involve serving in the baptistry.
- Church Office Building/Salt Lake City including stage work in the conference center, helping in the audiovisual department as well as Welfare Square and Humanitarian Center assignments.
- Family and Church History Department, "They need about 600 to 1,000 worthy souls to serve from there own homes".
