Jeremy Chatelain, Seminary Teacher who is Quadripalegic

A Deseret News story highlighting Jeremy and Sarah Chatelain and their two children. Jeremy was hired as a full-time seminary teacher and shortly thereafter was involved in a diving accident 13 years ago that crushed his fifth and sixth vertebrae and caused immediate paralysis. Since then, he has travelled a long road and now teaches seminary again in Odgen, Utah. From the article:

The Mormon Women Project and Disability Stories

I recently came across the Mormon Women Project that "celebrates women who have made deliberate choices — with the help of the Spirit and personal revelation — to overcome personal trials, magnify motherhood, contribute to communities outside their homes, or be converted to the Gospel". A few of the stories they have posted involve an experience with a disability, including the following:

History of Disability Services Interview from the Mormon Channel

Legacy is a radio program from the Mormon Channel that highlights remarkable stories from Church History. In January of 2010 they broadcast a program titled, "History of Disability Services". The program is an interview with Doug Hind and Brent Meisinger who worked with Disability Services at the Church Office Building and is a fascinating look into both the history and a glimpse into some of the current challenges of member with disabilities in the Church.

The Disability Services Manager is an important role within the Curriculum Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Under the direction of Curriculum Department senior management, the Disability Services Manager will ensure that published messages including Church Magazines, manuals, and internet content meet the needs of audiences with disabilities.

The Disability Services Manager will also be an advocate for members with disabilities, and lead committees focused on their needs. This person will also advise Church leaders on issues regarding members with disabilities.

The Disability Services Manager will need to have experience with Church administration and an understanding of Church doctrines and history.

This job will be a tremendous opportunity to make a difference in the lives of members with disabilities, families and all members of the Church.
