New Disability Material Coming to LDS.org

Many of you have seen the new test site that the Church is previewing before they officially release it. At the bottom of the Home page is a link to a PDF document titled 'What's New at LDS.org?' A couple of days that page was updated to include this information on page 2:

Disabilities

The redesigned LDS.org will better comply with accessibility guidelines than the previous Web site. We will continue to make improvements throughout 2006 until we comply with all the Church guidelines for ALT tags, navigation, and other functionality to assist site users who have disabilities or special needs.

In late 2006, a new section will be added to improve access to resources that are already on LDS.org to support people with disabilities or special needs. This section will also provide new information and links for these users, for families who care for them, and for their Church leaders and teachers.

The material in the Disabilities section will be a tremendous resource and should help in promoting an awareness of disability in the Church.

In addition, the notice above says that they are working making the Web site more accessible for users with disabilities. If you have an awareness of online accessibility issues, please visit the new site and leave detailed feedback of your experience, both good and bad.
