The Disability Services Manager is an important role within the Curriculum Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Under the direction of Curriculum Department senior management, the Disability Services Manager will ensure that published messages including Church Magazines, manuals, and internet content meet the needs of audiences with disabilities.
The Disability Services Manager will also be an advocate for members with disabilities, and lead committees focused on their needs. This person will also advise Church leaders on issues regarding members with disabilities.
The Disability Services Manager will need to have experience with Church administration and an understanding of Church doctrines and history.
This job will be a tremendous opportunity to make a difference in the lives of members with disabilities, families and all members of the Church. The qualifications listed on the job description are:
- Experience creating published or instructional material for people with disabilities.
- Strong desire for learning and teaching the gospel-this includes possessing a solid understanding of core doctrines of the Church.
- Experience and ability incorporating instructional design theory into the creation of content for different age groups and cultures.
- Familiarity and experience creating instructional or published material using multiple media, such as print, web, mobile/wireless, and audio, and how such materials can be adapted for members with disabilities.
- Familiar with best practices for making published material available in a variety of alternative formats such as Braille, large-print text and audio.
- Have a basic understanding of how assistive technology devices are used by persons with disabilities.
- Working knowledge of videophones, closed-captioning, subtitles, MPS, DAISY formats and flash technology.
- Sensitivity to individuals who have disabilities.
- Understanding of applicable laws and mandates by government and educational entities regarding people with disabilities.
- Awareness of a wide range of disabilities and how different disabilities affect individuals, families and communities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and explain the needs of people with disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple divisions and departments.
- Presents self professionally and is capable of gaining and maintaining the trust of Church leaders.
- Masters degree in instructional design or applicable field or equivalent professional experience and training.
- Ability to author publishable written content.
- Knowledge of Sign Language

I would love to help in anyway, since someone has the Job. I'd love have more info on the disability specialist we could use one. Although I'm the one with all the resourses for my own child.
